Treaty Agreement in Principle for Yekooche

The Yekooche First Nation signed an Agreement in Principle (AIP) with the BC Provincial and Canadian Federal Governments yesterday. The AIP forms the basis for a treaty between the First Nation and governments.

The Yekooche live near Fort St. James, BC, in the centre of the province and a few hours drive to the north-west of Prince George. Background information, including a map, is found here.

(Signing an AIP is stage four of six in BC’s Treaty Process. The final two stages are negotiations to finalize a treaty followed by its implementation. This signing brings to six the number of AIPs concluded with BC First Nations. For a list of agreements and other contextual information please see my website.)
