‘Head Notes’ for a Tuesday

Two items of interest crossed my inbox today.
1) From Arizona, and the Denver Post: a messy fight over a ski area development is emerging. The focus is on the blowing of artificial snow made from reclaimed waste water on a mountain deemed sacred by the Navajo.
The issues surrounding sacred sites and recreation raised in the article fit nicely into the list of ski area disputes in British Columbia.
2) From Victoria, BC, and the Vancouver Sun: The Tseycum First Nation (Vancouver Island) is trying to repatriate the remains of ancestors from the American Museum of Natural History in New York and the Field Museum of Natural History in Chicago. I’ll be interested to watch how these cross-border claims are handled by the museums.
