Given that it is the first week of classes, and a week in which some students are introduced to anthropology for the first time, I thought it appropriate to distribute further Gwyneth Paltrow’s comments from the January 2, 2006 issue of Us Weekly.
When asked what Paltrow would tell her daughter if she wanted to be an actress, Paltrow says:
I’d probably do what my mother did with me, which is support whatever she wanted to do. But first I’d say, ‘Oh, no, you’re too smart for that! Be an anthropologist or something.’
Thanks to SavageMinds for alerting me to this. Being in Canada, my subscription to Us Weekly usually arrives a week late.

Update
A colleague at Capilano College pointed me towards the archaeology quotes section of archaeology.about.com and an anthropological quotation by another actress. According to Tea Leoni:
Sphere: Related ContentI sort of thought I wanted to be an anthropologist. But my father suggested I go to a cocktail party full of anthropologists. I did. He’s a very wise man.
