Lheidli T’enneh Treaty Rejected

Opinion 250 News reports that the Lheidli T’enneh (Athapaskan; Prince George) people have rejected their treaty agreement with Canada and British Columbia. The treaty vote asked two questions. One asked voters if they wanted the treaty. The other asked if they accepted the Lheidli T’enneh constitution. The first question failed and the second passed. According to the news report:

Krehbiel [a negotiator] says … “The constitution for the new treaty government passed by a vote of 121 for, and 112 against, but that is meaningless when you have no treaty. We will definitely be sitting down with everyone in the next few days to look over this entire matter.”

I’ll post links to other stories when I see them.
