The Huu-ay-aht First Nation (Wakashan speakers on the west coast of Vancouver Island; once labeled Nootka) voted decisively to approve their treaty with Canada and British Columbia. The Huu-ay-aht are one of five Maa-nulth groups who will be voting on their treaty settlements over the next few months. The treaty is expected to be implemented by 2010.
